- Lisa Lynn Backus, CMP
Lisa Lynn Backus is a Senior Catering Manager for Caesars Palace Las Vegas.She specializes in the Community Non-Profit events,
Holiday events and 6-Stop Strategy Events. She has worked in the hospitality industry for over 20 years.
Lisa Lynn is currently the President of the Las Vegaschapter of NACE, (National Association of
Catering Executives).She is an active member of the Henderson Chapter of Civitan and 2004 graduate of Leadership
Henderson. She volunteers for the Arthritis Foundation and Nevada Cancer Institute. Lisa Lynn is a recipient of the Harrah's Entertainment Inc. 2006 Property Chairman's Award for Community Service.
- Inshiya Baldiwala
Inshiya, alumna of the William F. Harrah Hotel College of Hotel Administration
at the University of Nevada Las Vegas, is an HR professional for the world’s
largest gaming corporation, Harrah’s Entertainment. Inshiya is currently
responsible for management training, development and quality, for the 14
Harrah’s properties in the Western Division. She has also held multiple
management positions in a variety of hotel divisions, including Front Office,
Pool Operations, Food & Beverage and Housekeeping.
- Tyra Bell-Holland
Tyra Bell-Holland, alumna of the William F. Harrah Hotel College of Hotel
Administration at the University of Nevada Las Vegas is the Director and Chef
Concierge at The Venetian Resort Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. With a staff of 81
Concierges, Tyra directs the largest concierge department in the city. Tyra is
also the President, pro tempore of the Southern Nevada Hotel Concierge
Association and has held a board position consecutively since 2002. She is also
on the Membership Committee and Fund Raising Committee of Les Clefs d’Or USA,
the only national association of professional concierges in the United States
representing over 250 Four and Five Star hotels nationwide.
- Debbie Brumfield
Debbie Brumfield is a Resort Concierge at The Venetian Resort Hotel & Casino as
well as the Concierge Trainer for the hotel. Debbie is one of the founding
members of the concierge department at the Venetian which opened in 1999. Debbie
is currently the Public Relations Director for the Southern Nevada Hotel
Concierge Association and has held that title for the past three terms, prior to
that she was the Assistant Public Relations Director for two terms. She is also
one of three concierges at the Venetian who are members of the prestigious Les
Clefs d’Or USA, the only national association of professional concierges in the
United States.
- Tracey E. Kumer-Moore, JWIC
Tracey Kumer-Moore, JWIC is a Certified Professional Wedding Consultant and
Owner/Principal Wedding Consultant of YOUR LAS VEGAS WEDDING CONCIERGE. She is a
member of the June Wedding Inc, International Advisory Board, Board Member for
the Las Vegas Chapter of National Association of Catering Executives, Las Vegas
Hospitality Association & Wedding Professionals of Las Vegas. Tracey has been
featured and quoted in the media including Wedding Bells Magazine, Casino
Journal Magazine, Chicago Wedding Pages Magazine, Las Vegas Review Journal and
the Wedding Podcast Network. She has appeared as a Bridal Panel member at the
2005 Wedding and Event Videographer's Asscociation expo in Las Vegas and the
2006 Limousine & Chauffeured Transportation Show.
- Timothy Lam - MIBS, MS
Timothy Lam is a bilingual, hospitality and
marketing professional with a BS in Business Management from
Wake Forest University, a Master of International Business
degree focusing in International Marketing from the University
of South Carolina and a Master of Science degree in Hotel
Administration from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
- Christie McCoy
Christie is a professional event & wedding producer/designer,
coordinating everything from award winning tradeshow booths to
celebrity weddings. Founder and President of CLM Weddings, she
has held positions including Event Sales Manager, Event Manager,
and Project Manager. Christie has significant experience
coordinating, creating, designing, and organizing high profile
corporate events and wedding in the Las Vegas area. Christie is
a Board Member of the International Special Events Society
- Ellis D Norman - MBA, CHE
Ellis is Assistant Professor and Internship
Coordinator at the Harrah Hotel College at the University of
Nevada, Las Vegas. He holds an MBA degree from the University of
Chicago. Ellis has held management positions in hotel operations
and human resources.
- Patricia A Norman - CMP
For more than 20 years Patricia has been the
Director of Meeting and Conference Planning for the
National Medical Association (NMA). She has served
on Convention and Visitor's Bureau (CVB) advisory
boards for Hawaii and Baltimore. She has also been a
member of the Multicultural Advisory Board for
Hilton Hotels Corporation and served on the Board of
Directors for the National Coalition of Black
Meeting Planners.
Currently Patricia serves on the Advisory Boards
for, Washington, DC, San Antonio and New Orleans.
- Angela L Roberts - CMP CSEP
Angela, an alumna of the
WIlliam F Harrah College of Hotel Administration at the University of Nevada,
Las Vegas is currently the Director of Fundraising for Ronald McDonald House Charities
of Greater Las Vegas. Immediately prior, she served as Catering Sales Manager
for the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino. Angela is well respected in the industry,
having been awarded designation as both a Certified Meeting Professional as well
as Certified Special Event Professional.
Angela brings many years of hotel experience including hotel operations,
special events, catering, as well as the fund raising side of events. Angela is
very passionate about planning events from all sides. She is a second year board
member for the ISES Las Vegas Chapter, and looks forward to assisting students
to become the best they can.
- Gabriella Thomas
Gabriella
Thomas is currently a Catering Sales Manager with
the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino where she
oversees social functions to include Weddings,
Birthday Celebrations, Reunions and Anniversaries.
Prior to that Gabriella was the Senior Wedding
Planner with the Wedding Chapels at the Rio from
2003 to 2005. She has worked as a Special Events
Coordinator with the Visiting Nurse Association and
Red Cross, organizing fundraising events such as
Golf Tours and Black Tie galas.
Guest Lecturers
- Robyn Hadden - MS CSEP
Robyn,
alumna of the William F. Harrah Hotel College of
Hotel Administration at the University of Nevada Las
Vegas, is the Special Event Manager of the UNLV
Foundation. She is also an adjunct professor
teaching Special Events Management at the Harrah
Hotel College at the University of Nevada, Las
Vegas. Robyn is active in the International Special
Events Society (ISES) having served on the board and
as a past President. Internationally, she is also a
past Western Regional Vice President, and currently
serves as Chair of the Certification Committee.
- Curtis Love - Ph.D., CHE
Curtis is an Assistant Professor at the
University of Nevada Las Vegas in the Department of
Tourism and Convention Administration at the William
F. Harrah College of Hotel Administration. His
teaching and research concentrations are in the
areas of meetings, conventions, and tradeshows.
Prior to joining UNLV in fall 1998, he was the
Vice-President of Education for the Professional
Convention Management Association.
- Kathy Nelson - Ph.D., CSEP, CMP
Kathy, alumna of the William F. Harrah Hotel
College of Hotel Administration at the University of
Nevada Las Vegas, is Assistant Professor and the
Director of the Master’s program at the Harrah Hotel
College at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
Along with being certified in both meeting planning
and events management, she is dedicated to the
research and development of special events
management.
- Gary Potts - MS, OIE
Gary is a successful Human Resource Management,
Organizational Behavior, and Leadership lecturer at
UNLV. Gary transitioned in 2004 to the classroom
after serving over 33 years with a large,
international pharmaceutical research, development
and manufacturing company. That experience enabled
him to gain expertise in the areas of team building,
problem solving, organizational effectiveness,
coaching and counseling, communications, strategic
planning, and human resources management. At UNLV,
he has conducted multiple classes in the College of
Hotel Administration, including design and
administration of an online course in Lessons in
Leadership and has subsequently taught a similar
course to the Executive Masters students at UNLV's
newly opened Singapore Campus.
- Patti Shock - CPCE
Patti
chairs the Tourism and Convention Administration
Department in the Harrah Hotel College at the
University of Nevada, Las Vegas. She teaches
catering both on-campus and online, and she speaks
to industry groups regularly. She has co-authored
three books on catering which are used in colleges
and for several industry certifications. Patti has
received numerous awards and recognitions, including
being named one of the 25 most influential people in
the meetings industry by Meeting News in 2003.
